The app
Works today. Getting better.
Reading the Country teaches you to look at a landscape — a dune, a headland, a rainforest gully — and understand why it is the way it is. It's the free web companion to Same Sky, Different Ground, a natural history of the Sunshine Coast from reef to range. Every guide is authored and every claim is cited and traceable; nothing is generated while you read.
Built for where signal isn't
Save an offline field pack before you leave the car park, and every guide in that pathway comes with you — no reception required. Add the site to your home screen and it opens like an app.
The iPhone app is coming
We're building a native iPhone app on the same authored, cited guides you can already use free on the web. Native will bring a richer map, better offline use, and sync across your devices. Until then, the web companion works today — in the field, offline, and straight from your home screen.
Want to hear when it lands? Send a quick note to hello@sunshinecoastecology.com.au and we'll email you once, when it's ready.
- Free to use, no account needed — your progress stays on your device.
- Every claim cited and traceable. Nothing generated while you read.
- Identification apps tell you what it is. We tell you why it's here.
- “Read here” finds your nearest guide by GPS — a lookup, not a guess.
